Launch of Birdhill Coffee Festival
The Old Barracks Coffee Roastery is excited to announce the launch of the inaugural coffee festival, set to take place in Birdhill, Tipperary. This event will be held on the 6th and 7th of July, offering a weekend full of coffee-related activities and experiences. The adult-only festival will be held over two days in July, with a coffee-fuelled line-up of guest speakers, coffee roasting demonstrations, a latte art throwdown, educational masterclasses, food trucks, brewing and tasting stations, and much more.
Festival founder Alan Andrews said, “We are hoping this festival appeals to the ‘coffee-curious’ who wish to explore the world of coffee. The public appetite for high-quality coffee is ever-rising, and we want to celebrate and engage with those customers to try a variety of coffees and flavours which we roast here in Birdhill from all over the world. Nearly everyone has a coffee machine at home now, and for this festival, we have partnered with SAGE Espresso to bring some great education and the opportunity to learn more about how to make great coffee at home, what equipment to buy and how best to use it”.
The festival will host speakers from industry leaders, marketing experts, sommeliers and influencers on The Guest Speaker Stage. They will share their knowledge, their expertise and their stories.
The Old Barracks Team, managed by Tom Luczak will host a range of roasting demonstrations, coffee tastings and brewing classes throughout the weekend, where the coffee-curious can learn about green coffee beans from different single origins farms around the world. They will demonstrate how various processes affect the final flavour profile of a variety of beans, and attendees can try the roasting process themselves.
In the main marquee coffee machine experts from Sage Espresso will be on hand to demonstrate how to get the best from your coffee machine, they will give tips and tricks on how to improve your latte art and showcase the latest equipment for your home while you sip your way from country to country and find your perfect flavour match.
For another type of ‘brew,’ check out The Boozy Bar, where attendees can enjoy coffee cocktails, Irish coffees, and fine wines and get hands-on experience making the perfect espresso martini. Or venture towards the SISU Wellness Area for fuel of a different sort. SISU will serve a range of wellness shots, organic Kombucha and cold-pressed juices, and host Yoga in the Park on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
The Milk Masters will teach attendees how to create amazing-looking lattes and latte art masterpieces from swans to hearts and pretty flowers, while the Oatrageous Latte Art Throwdown is an open invitation to café owners and baristas across the country to free pour their best coffee art masterpieces in front of a panel of judges to vie for a host of prizes.
Birdhill Coffee Festival will take place in the 300-year-old Old Barracks Roastery and gardens in Birdhill County Tipperary. The roastery overlooks Lough Derg and Mount Moylusa, just off the M7. Tickets are available for one day or two days and range in price from €20 per person for one-day ‘Just A Taste’ coffee tasting to €60 ‘Full Package’ for two days all-inclusive.
