JOB OPPORTUNITY: General Manager


This is an exciting opportunity to manage one of the most prestigious coffee properties in the country. The Old Barracks Coffee Roastery is a well-established premium coffee destination with a focus on customer experiences, consistently pioneering and leading coffee standards across an engaging and customer centric platform. The property currently trades 7 days a week from 10-5pm and currently has an opportunity for a General Manager.

This role may suit individuals with experience in any of the following: hotel management, food and beverage, restaurant management, retail management.


A minimum of 5 years management experience is recommended.


Basic 35-40K PA subject to experience

+ Education Bursary 3,000 per annum

+ Pension and Life Assurance (after 1 year)

The General Manager promotes our ethos to create a destination for the coffee curious by providing an immersive shopping experience, focused on customer service, user experiences, and educating customers.  You will be responsible for, oversee and support the day-to-day operations of, and production of, all retail activities through the selling and serving of coffee and brewing equipment, accessories, and supplies.  You will interact with customers on site, via phone/emails and across different online platforms, e.g. Tripadvisor, Facebook, Instagram and others as required.  You will define and implement brand standards and best practice procedures for ensuring optimal customer experiences with the help of CRM tools to enhance customer loyalty and customer relationships. You must be customer focused, highly organised, have the ability to multitask and be flexible in line with business demands, be capable of engaging and negotiating with contractors, customers and team members to achieve the required results whilst also being able to manage a 7 day business operation. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential.

You will support strategic business development, including research projects and reports, identify opportunities for growth and align a team to execute.  You will be highly engaged in buying discussions, green coffee buying, retail buying and all importing and exporting to ensure seamless operations.  You will attend seminars, workshops, and conferences to improve your existing job knowledge and to further improve soft and hard skills, the overall business development and business objectives. You will be goal driven to see projects to completion.

You will be supported by the management team and the operations team. You will manage the ongoing recruitment of your team, host monthly staff meetings and periodical employee reviews as set out per employment contracts. You will maintain all core standards of health, safety, and security in the work environment and the personal wellbeing of all staff.

You will be responsible for general maintenance of all operational facets of the business, including the presentation of the listed building and signage, and ensure all equipment is maintained and kept in working condition, including espresso machines, grinders, kitchen equipment, generators and others.
